Should I cut my hair short, or let it grow long?

Link 1 is of my hair long-ish. I want to get a haircut so that it looks good long. Right now it looks pretty bad.

Link 2 is of my hair short and flipped up with gel

I am willing to let my hair grow out real long but want it to look good.

As you can see, my hair sticks up in the back because i have a cowlick.

Please be thoughtful, thank you.

It would looks heaps good on you!!Should I cut my hair short, or let it grow long?
You should grow it long. With that cut, we can barely tell you have hair, but if you grow, I personally think it would look better
The new fad is the page boy fluff. I think you would look very purddy with that doo.
ur hot and you would suit with both hotty
You have a heart shaped face and can suit almost any guy's regular style.

';Heart: The heart shaped face is broadest across the cheekbones and has a wide, broad forehead. It is narrow at the jaw line and wide at the eyes. The jawbones curve either to an oval or pointed chin that completes the heart shape. Almost any style is becoming on this normal type of face.The hair may be either short or long, but preferably a little fuller on the top than on the sides.';

L.S. Trusty, ';The Art and Science of Barbering'; pg 130.

If you want your hair longer it needs to grow. It is still quite short over the top and at the back of the crown. The average rate of growth is 1/8'; per week, so it may be a while to attain the desired length. For now, get the back and sides tapered every three weeks or thereabouts till you have about three inches on top. Then you can let the sides and back start to grow out and get shape up haircuts every six weeks to even up the growth since some hairs, usually younger hairs, grow faster than a guy's average rate. All hairs grow to a terminal length of several feet, fall out and are replaced by a new hair. We can't see this because we get frequent haircuts. Young hairs tend to grow fast and slow down as the hair gets older. Everyone has hairs of ll ages on the scalp and they are constantly falling out and being replaced. The variation in growth rates is why hair, especially guy's short haircuts, need to be cut frequently to stay looking neat. Almost everyone's hair sticks up at the whorl on the back of the crown when it is essentially grown out crew cut length. With length, even a cowlick will lay down and behave. For now it can probably be kept under control to a certain extent with a control wax or krew comb. I am fairly sure I wrote a longer detailed answer to this question last night with attached photos. I either forgot to post it or that question was deleted. If you didn't read it, let me know, I can probably remember most of it and add it to this answer. I suggest going with a crew cut or ivy league because either style will suit your head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features and are very easy to groom which is a huge plus in the fast paced life of a high school student trying to balance academics, athletics and other extracurricular activities. If you want to grow it longer, it just needs to grow. Be patient and keep the back/sides tapered till the top reaches a certain length and you will reach your goal. It will look fine.

Good Luck!
